Tuesday, January 30, 2018

January 12, 2018 -

Last evening, January 11, 2018, the binational Montreal-Lake Ontario section of the St. Lawrence Seaway officially closed for the 2017 navigation season. The last remaining commercial ocean vessel in the Seaway System, the downbound (eastbound) Federal Biscay, safely transited the Canadian St. Lambert Lock in Montreal and exited the Seaway. The U.S. sector of the Seaway closed on January 9 with the downbound transit of the Pacific Huron through the Snell Lock at 7:26 am. This completes the binational waterway’s 59th navigation season.
